who we are
Our church is a very warm place. On any given Sabbath, you’re bound to see people from around the world. Some come dressed in their native clothing, others whisper in foreign languages, and at potluck you’ll occasionally discover something new. It’s a cultural experience that works well in God’s house. Children’s Story is a beautiful opportunity to see how full of vibrant little lives our church home is. We have active youth programs, and an award-winning bible bowl team. While we may be from a wide range of geographic regions, we unite at the foot of the cross each week as sinners all in need of Savior. Our services are uplifting and we host many biblically based events and seminars. If you’d like to see a taste of heaven on earth, there’s always a seat waiting just for you. Come join us!
our history
-
In 1992 the Southwest Houston and Dairy Ashford SDA churches merged and became known as the Houston International SDA Church. In 1997, Houston International purchased our current house of worship. During that time our membership has increased 27% with attendance levels peaking at 650, representing over 35 countries. Houston International continues to grow into a very diverse family of believers, passionate about finishing the work and hastening the coming of our Lord and Savior.
Our Vision
Our vision is to follow and obey Jesus while inviting others to follow as well.
Our Mission
Our mission is to proclaim the grace of Jesus through word and deed in an accepting and diverse community of faith.
Our Values
Unity in Diversity: Having over 42 nations represented in our congregation we believe in being united even as we are diverse. It takes humility and mutual surrender but we’ve tasted a little of heaven here on earth.
Healing: God has blessed us with a focus on physical and spiritual healing. Our church has been blessed with an overabundance of people with the gifts of bringing healing to communities both near and far.
Evangelism: Both at home and abroad we accept the challenge of Jesus to make disciples of all people. This means that although the scope is overwhelming we undauntedly continue to proclaim and live out the Great Commission.
The World Church
The Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) is unique in it’s organizational structure. Each local church is part of a larger association of churches that we call conferences. Each conference belongs to a broader network of conferences that we call unions. Each union connects with other unions, which forms a division. There are 13 divisions within the SDA church across the globe. Each church supports the global mission, linking us all together as one very diverse family. Houston International SDA Church belongs to the Texas Conference, Southwestern Union, and the North American Division.
